Interesting parallel line of thought is I know several grade /high school teachers that have noticed kids aren't or don't know how to ask the ' right' questions. It's hard to guide that if the kids are wandering off in a random direction 😅

Been meaning on coming back to this piece to comment for a while. Are you familiar with the recent book, 10 to 25: The Science of Motivating Young People by David Yeager. He works through a synthesis of parenting, educational, and employment research to tie together a framework for of what he calls the Three Mindsets. The mindset you advocate for here is aligned with what he calls the Mentor Mindset or Baumrind's Authoritative Parenting. This is in contrast to what Yeager calls the Enforcer Mindset /Baumrind's Authoritarian Parenting. I will post another comment with the text from the table in the book.
